See what we've been up to Lately
The Flying Pterodactyl is just that, an almost life-sized pterodactyl in a flying position that is an interactive art installation. The pterodactyl sits high on a rod that is connected to a large base that not only makes the creature stable, but also houses the gearing components that make the wings flap. The gearing is attached to a chain that leads out to a hand crank that allows anyone to walk up and make the creature come to life. The crank will be geared so that people won't be able to go crazy with it. The entire interactive art installation is surrounded by a decorative fence (it will look like plants or something that just screams "Jurassic") that keeps people a safe distance away from the moving parts. The base will be painted and decorated with large ferns to make it look like it's from the same time period.
The pterodactyl will have a metal skeleton frame and will be covered in fabric for its skin and wings. The creature will be anatomically accurate but will have an artistic flare to it as well.
The installation will be have uplighting at night.
