Thorax: Ambassador of the Insects is a costume made of reclaimed materials. Originally built to entertain the people of the Oregon Country Fair, Thorax made its way to Burning Man for multiple years after that. It features an exoskeleton made from everyday items such as light fixtures, shelving liner, and the back mat of a Subaru. Also a stilt walking costume, Thorax has articulated wings that span over six feet. Thorax was part of the Burning Man: No Spectators exhibit that was at the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery in 2018-2019. The exhibit will travel to the Cincinnati Art Museum in 2019 and then to the Oakland Museum of California from 2019 to 2020.
